Felling and dismantling
Taking a tree down, safely
Some trees have to come down — because they are dead, dangerous, diseased, or in the wrong place. Where there is room, we fell whole. Where there is not, we dismantle the tree in sections and lower it down, which is how we take trees out of small gardens, from over conservatories and from between buildings.
We will check first whether the tree is protected by a Tree Preservation Order or sits in a Conservation Area, and handle the paperwork if it does.
Pruning
Good pruning keeps a tree healthy without spoiling it
- Crown reduction Reducing overall height and spread while keeping the tree’s natural outline.
- Crown thinning Taking out a proportion of the inner growth to let light and wind through.
- Crown lifting Removing lower branches to clear paths, drives, roofs and sightlines.
- Pollarding Cutting back hard to established points to hold a suitable tree at a set size.

Hedge cutting
Annual trims, hard reductions and reshaping, from a garden boundary to a long estate hedge. We take the arisings away unless you would rather keep the chippings.
Stump grinding and removal
A stump left in the ground gets in the way of replanting, mowing and paving, and can encourage honey fungus. We grind stumps out below ground level so the area can be reused.

We will help you choose species that suit the soil, the space and the way you want the site to look in twenty years, source the stock, and plant it properly.

For anyone responsible for a lot of trees. We survey the whole population, record condition and risk, flag the trees needing work, and give you a prioritised plan you can budget against and show to an insurer.
